A.R.Salandy - Evacuation: Work
A.R.Salandy - Evacuation
A white bird rested at an empty port
Where we congregated,
Worn and dishevelled,
As skies cried
And home bound winds
Ushered our languid bodies
To our foreign land
Closed to our gaze
For as engines roared
And our shielded journey began,
I knew our evacuation was a by-product
Of sweet modernity
Purchased in brotherly bonds,
Or rather corrosive debt,
An aging corroboration of hyper reality
Just out of normal reach,
A callous reminder of my prolonged existence
In a world of contorted identities
Snuffed out by demagogues
Silent, ever piercing.
