the moon barbarous

its face caressing your skin -

our lips yet to touch

A path of needles

When the path feels like one of needles,

and the forest floor

no longer gives you rest,

it is then that I’ll cup your cheeks

in my palms, and rub moonlight,

gently,

into your skin.

In doing so, quietly touching

the truth of us creatures;

that we are love, speaking to love.

It is our forgetting,

that is our only undoing.
