Eve Chancellor – Callisto

i fell in love with a maiden     my other

in form the mirror image of myself

to know her was to know my own

desire     the pleasures of our flesh

we accept no menfolk here     no hero

can dismount on these chaste shores

for there is war     and there is beauty

there is sacrifice      and there is art

women make the fiercest warriors

the tenderest lovers     sing O muse

when she drew her bow     she struck

my softest part     my dove-white skin

this breast     this neck     these hands

are yours     are yours     are yours
