Sam Bellamy – As Hedgerows Sing of Shriving
They shot the last wolf in England,
Our link to land cut as the crumbling turf.
Lanolin depths washed out from home to hamlet,
Smoke-choked and gathered as mourners.
Even the flint is worn away,
Sparked on steel, napped to nothing.
Based in the rural heart of Suffolk, Sam Bellamy is a writer and editor dedicated to natural environments, folkloric stories, and bringing nature back to being a part of our every day life. He has been previously published in Fairy Piece, The Looking Glass, and The Elaborate Backstory. He edits Green Ink Poetry.
